Hotel management consultants
With professionalism being the buzz word in practically all the sectors, newer and newer avenues are opening for trained professionals. Hotel management consultancy is just one of the avenues among them.
Hotel management is an old concept with a large number of hotel management institutes churning out scores of graduates. After passing out all these graduates eventually join any of the big hotel chains of the country like Taj, Oberois etc. Some of them seek greener pastures by joining international brands. The spread of these hotels was limited to major cities or tourist centers.
With the rapid urbanization and industrialization the demand for hotels increased in tier II and tier III cities. Sensing opportunities many builders constructed hotels. However, building hotels was one thing managing them was a different ball game altogether. The big daddies of the industry were not willing to run their hotels.
Realizing good prospects in smaller cities, some of the experienced hotel management professionals met these owners/builders and started working for them. That is how hotel management consultants were born.
By and large these consultants form an experienced lot with most of them having an experience of successfully running big hotels in major cities. The owners also felt comfortable working with them as they carried the necessary experience to run their respective properties.
Many of these hotel consultancy firms are doing good business; one of them is Shaw Hospitality. It started its operations this financial year has managed to bag 15 hotels (4 hotels in Dubai and 11 hotels across the country) in the first six months of its operations. As of now the company is managing/marketing more than 1050 rooms, 602 rooms are in four states across the country where as 462 rooms are in Dubai.
These consultants by and large provide following services.
Services in the planning, overseeing, implementation and operations of hotels and restaurants in its entirety
An all India network of offices and representatives for sales and marketing in all the metros and major cities
Help to each unit to achieve a level of proficiency in operations that are recognized by ISO and other rating agencies to ensure efficiency
Single window solutions to hotel operations in project guidance, software, manpower and operations
With the industry poised to grow by leaps and bounds in the next decades, the future of these hotel management consultants looks bright.

When buying a low cost franchise there can be many reasons for why the franchise is low cost and in this article I am going to detail why they may be so and what to watch our for with some low cost franchises.
Firstly though, what do i mean by a low cost franchise? Many franchises cost 50,000 upwards, some coming in at several hundred thousand pounds. A low cost franchise is generally anything under the 15 thousand pound mark and is close to an investment level that everyone can afford.
What are the reasons for a low cost franchise being in the lower price bracket for buying a franchise?
Well – here are some of the main reasons:
1. Lack of expensive equipment needed to operate the franchise. Many franchises need specialised equipment and lots of it. This can bump up the cost of the franchise considerably.
2. Lack of a shop front, warehouse, garage or office. Many franchises are located on high streets or, as with car based franchises, based in garages. Many also have high street offices or need restaurant/ cafe style buildings. As you can imagine this can take a franchise up in price by many tens of thousands of pounds.
3. It may be a new franchise. When some franchisors franchise their business they first offer several pilot areas out at cut price. Although there may be some risk involved you could be grabbing yourself a bargain by buying into this type of low cost franchise.
4. It may be a home based franchise. A low cost franchise is almost always ran from home and without the need for expensive shop fronts the franchise price can be considerably lower than it’s shop counterpart.
What to watch our for in a low cost franchise?
Quite simply you often pay for what you get. There are many multi level marketing style businesses trying to operate as a franchise to give themselves a better name, however these in almost all cases do not work and are not tried and tested system, making money only for the franchisor and not for people buying into the system. There are also unscrupulous people out there who set up what may look like a good business idea but have in fact never tried and tested the system themselves or for that matter, run the system as a standalone business. In these cases the “franchised business” is there to make money from the franchise fee which is something no one in the franchise industry recommends.
When buying a franchise, whether it be a low cost franchise or of the most expensive variety, you should always do your research. asking questions of the existing franchisee base as well as the franchisor can ensure you are buying into a viable and profitable opportunity. Do not make the mistake that many have and jump in head first without doing your proper due diligence as this can only lead to disaster and you being either left in debt or without your life savings.

Employment history — I am thinking that even if you did not have a promotion during the past year, some of your work tasks may have changed. If so, sparkle up your resume and put your best foot forward. Also, remove jobs that you haven’t held in two decades! Most experts recommend that you show work history for the last ten years only. Remember: the job application asks for much more detailed information. Don’t list everything/anything on your resume.
How about training or schooling? Are there any classes you took that you can now list? A degree secured? If so, you definitely want to include your accomplishments front and center.
References: Never, never list your references on your resume. Instead, “references furnished upon request” is all that you need to state.
Once you have updated your resume, pass it on to a highly objective friend or hiring professional who can critique it accordingly. Implement their recommendations and go with the new copy.
Even if you aren’t planning to switch companies in 2006, a forced exit or even an internal promotion can mandate that a resume be furnished immediately. Why wait for an emergency; update your resume now while it is still on your mind.
